Whipple Farms was established in 1986.
From that time, we have grown to be a multiple endeavor business. We have all-natural, free-ranged eggs, uncertified organic hay, beautiful friesian horses, intelligent, athletic and lovely border collies, a fabulous horse drawn carriage business, a pet boarding facility, as well as a professional pet styling salon! These endeavors are all owned and operated by ourselves, Mark and Michelle Whipple. Yes, we are extremely busy people, but love what we do and strive to do all in the absolute best way.
Our success speaks for itself. We started with free-ranged egg laying chickens. We had a very small flock of only 50 birds ten years ago, and now have up to 1800 birds now! We supply many health food stores with our eggs. You can find them at: Kreigers Market in Cuyahoga Falls, Seven Grains Market in Tallmadge, Mustard Seed Market both Solon and Akron locations, and The Raisin Rack in Canton. We also sell the eggs at our farm in Clinton. The eggs are always fresh!!! You won't find any eggs here that are months old like at other mega-farms!
Our hay is grown here on our 38 acre farm as well as on our second farm located in Hopedale Ohio. We have 122 acres in Hopedale that is partially in hay as well. We use no herbicides, or pesticides on our fields, and we use our chicken, and horse manure as a natural fertilizer. Most of our hay fields are fairly new, and have very low weed counts. We have mostly an orchard grass/clover mix.
Our friesian horses were carefully selected for their beauty, conformation, and most of all for their delightful temperaments. Currently we have just three mares, Salina K, Loura, who is a star mare, Antoinette D, also a star mare from a cross of the two least common blood lines in the breed. Salina K is the dam of Loura and her other daughter Megan went star at her 2007 keuring. Megan is proudly now owned by Diana Friebert of Louisville KY! Congratulations Diana on your purchase of such a magnificent star mare!! Loura received her ster rating at her 2006 keuring as a three year old. In 2007 Salina K produced another gorgeous filly by Erik, who we have offered for sale. Her name is Wilma of Whipple Farms, and definitely looks like she will follow in her sisters footsteps to become star.!! Our border collies have also been carefully selected to produce farm working or athletic competitors, as well as wonderful family companions. We breed only one or two litters per year. Our dogs help us out here on the farm as well as serve as guardians to us and the farm. Conformation and disposition is of utmost importance in our breeding program, and the offspring so far has proven itself to be very well conforming to our goal.
The horse drawn carriage business is up and ready to roll. We are able to provide an elegant touch to any wedding, or special event. We are also able to provide some fun for birthdays, anniversaries, company picnics, or any other event. We use our friesian horses for most all events, although we also have a lovely spotted draft that we will use as well.
Our pet boarding / grooming facility was established in 1999 and has also proven itself to be a successful endeavor. With the hard work and commitment of Mark and Michelle, you are sure to find the best care available for your beloved pet.
